Frequently Asked Questions
-
Online therapy sessions take place via a secure video platform (Konfidens), which works in most modern web browsers without requiring software to be installed.
To make the most of sessions, it is important to have:
A device such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone
A stable internet connection
A private space where you will not be overheard or interrupted
Headphones (optional, but often helpful for privacy and focus)

Following our brief introductory call, our first full 50-minute session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other.
We will talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and any questions you may have. There is no expectation to share anything you do not feel ready to discuss.
We will also begin to explore whether working together feels like a good fit.
-
Therapy is usually most effective when sessions take place once a week, at the same time each week.
This helps create consistency and continuity in the therapeutic process, but we can discuss what feels right for you.
-
The length of therapy varies depending on your needs and goals.
Some people find a shorter-term piece of work helpful, while others choose to engage in longer-term therapy. We can regularly review this together as we go along.
-
Yes. What you share in therapy is treated as confidential in accordance with the ethical framework of the UKCP.
There are a small number of legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which I will explain clearly at the start of our work together so that you understand how your information is handled.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and handle all personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. Full details are available in my Privacy Policy and in the Client Privacy Notice I provide before therapy begins.

You do not need to be in crisis or have everything figured out to begin therapy.
Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of themselves or their direction. Therapy can offer a space to reflect, explore your experiences, and make sense of them with support.
If you're unsure whether therapy feels like the right next step, that's completely okay. A free introductory conversation offers an opportunity to discuss what you're looking for, ask any questions you may have, and consider whether working together feels like a good fit.

The quality of the therapeutic relationship is central to effective therapy.
Our initial conversations are an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. It is completely normal for this to take time, and you are under no obligation to continue if it does not feel like the right fit.
-
If at any point it does not feel like I am the right therapist for you, we can discuss this openly.
You are free to end therapy at any time, and I will support you in finding alternative options where appropriate.
It is important that you feel comfortable and safe in the therapeutic relationship, and I will always respect your decision if you choose not to continue.
